This
is a 24-hour electrocardiogram used to evaluate the heart rhythm and Electrocardiogram
appearance during an entire day. Several electrodes are applied to the
chest and/or a vest may also be provided to keep them in place. 
The
monitor, which resembles a portable CD player, is stored in a comfortable
belt and worn at the waist virtually undetectable under regular clothing.
The patient performs relatively normal day-to-day
activities and is asked to keep a diary to note 
activities
and symptomsthat may be noticed during the recording.
